#17 - Circles

Welcome to another Saturday, which means a new challenge here at Sugar Creek Hollow.  This week we want you to make vintage, shabby chic or primitive cards with CIRCLES.  Your card can be a circle shape or can be another shape that features circles or circles on a circle shape - you decide.

We will be choosing one random winner who will receive a digi of our choice along with a winner's badge to display.  The Design Team will choose their Top Pick and that creator will receive a winner's badge but will also be in the running for a monthly Guest Designer spot.

We have another tutorial from Renee Matarese this week.  She is showing us how to take shiny metal objects and turn them into rusty, vintage looking objects.  Check out the tutorial in the post below, on our sidebar or on her blog.

Here is a peek at the Circles card she made with her rusty metal objects.

The rest of the designers have also created wonderful inspiration for you so click on their names to be taken directly to their blogs for all the details and then come on back to show us your wonderful creations.

Tutorial - Shiny Metal to Rusty Metal

Today I'm going to share a fun tutorial created by Renee Matarese, our Feature Artist that's just PERFECT if you love vintage!

She is going to show you how to take shiny new metal objects and make them look old and rusty.

Here are the items that she started with.

Rusting Recipe:
1/2 pint Hydrogen Peroxide
1/8 C. White Vinegar
1 TBSP salt

After mixing the above ingredients together in a PLASTIC bin with a PLASTIC spoon place your metal items in a single layer on the bottom and put the cover on the bin.

Let it sit for at least 24 hrs. (some were done then and some had to go another day)  You can open it once or twice to give it a stir and make sure your items aren't overlapping.

Here is the end result.  As you can see some rusted more than others, which may be a result of the objects being made from different metals.

Check out this week's challenge to see the card that Renee created using some of the rusted elements.
