Winners - #31 - Things with Wings

We had lots of fabulous entries for our Things with Wings challenge last week and here are the winners - a little late because yesterday was Thanksgiving here in Canada and I took a break from crafting and blogging.

The random winner of a digi of our choice and a winner's badge is JEN LEEFLANG.

The Design Team had a tough time coming up with their Top Pick but in the end this fabulous tag by BRENDA BROWN came out on top.  Brenda will also receive a winner's badge to display on her blog and will be in the running for a monthly Guest Designer spot.

Congratulations ladies and please email Cec to claim your prizes.

# 32 - Give Thanks for Autumn

This weekend our challenge to you at Sugar Creek Hollow is called GIVE THANKS FOR AUTUMN.  We want you to make a vintage or shabby chic card or other paper-crafted project in fall colours such as rust, orange, deep gold and reds.

This is Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada so your card could combine both themes or you could give thanks for the wonderful bounty that has made it through the brutally hot summer to hit your local market.

We will be choosing one random winner who will receive a digi of our choice along with at winner's badge to display. The Design Team will choose their Top Pick and that creator will receive a winner's badge but will also be in the running for a monthly Guest Designer spot.

Our lovely designers have made some gorgeous autumn cards for your inspiration so feast your eyes, check out the details on their blogs and come right back here to show us what you have created.

Tutorial - Handmade Flower

Hi there, it is Cec here and I have a mini tutorial created by Renee to go along with a card she had created for the challenge last week.

Her email to me originally got lost in cyber-space and then when I did get it, I didn't read it carefully enough and thought it was for the challenge being posted tomorrow so I owe her one giant apology since I didn't include her card in the challenge posting and I am only posting the tutorial today.

Now on to her tutorial. Here is what Renee sent me - enjoy.

Here is my card and today I'm going to show you how to make the handmade flower. This is as much a lesson in materials as it is in how to make it.

My materials I've used were practically free. The white tulle was purchased at JoAnn Fabrics from their scrap bin for less than a $1. Both the pink and white felt are scraps and the white circles that I folded were free. They came in a package I ordered as packing material.  Always be on the lookout for what you can use. You never know where you might find something really useful.

My first step was to cut lots of flowers in several different sizes. I used a Spellbinders nested set for this

Next, I layered them folding some of the pieces to give the flower more dimension.  Once you know how you want it layered just glue the layers together.  I used a hot glue gun.

There are literally endless possibilities for flowers when you make them yourself.  You can match them to anything you're making and choose your own size.
