# 22 - Vintage Christmas in July

The challenge this week at Sugar Creek Hollow is called VINTAGE CHRISTMAS IN JULY and we want to see your best vintage, shabby chic or primitive Christmas cards.  After all the heat many of us have been suffering through, making a Christmas card should make you think about Winter and offer some welcome respite from the brutal temperatures - at least in our minds.

We have a returning sponsor this week.  Sassy Cheryl's has the most wonderful images suitable for a primitive or shabby style and will be providing one random winner with a $5 gift certificate to her store.  The random winner will also receive a winner's badge from Sugar Creek Hollow to display.

The Design Team will choose their Top Pick and that creator will receive a winner's badge and will be in the running for a monthly Guest Designer spot.

The Design Team has worked their magic with Sassy Cheryl images and have created some wonderful inspiration for you.

# 21 - All About Sports

Another Saturday is upon us and that means another new challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow.  With the summer Olympics starting next Friday, we are calling this challenge ALL ABOUT SPORTS.  We want you to make vintage, shabby chic or primitive cards featuring sports.  The sports do not have to be Olympic sports but the images must be vintage to go along with the style we are looking for.

We will be choosing one random winner who will receive a digi of our choice along with a winner's badge to display. The Design Team will choose their Top Pick and that creator will receive a winner's badge but will also be in the running for a monthly Guest Designer spot.

Renee is joining us this week and has another tutorial to show you. You can find it by scrolling down to the post below this one or by clicking on the link on the sidebar.

Renee and the rest of our super designers have scoured the internet and their personal stashes to come up with some fabulous vintage images of different sports and then have created the most wonderful inspiration for you.  Now we can't wait to see what you can create.

Tutorial - Getting More From Your Dies

Hi there, my name is Renee Matarese and today I have a tutorial that will show you how to make the most of the tools you have.

I've chosen a set of Spellbinders frames and used the 2 largest on my card. As we all know these dies can be a little pricey ... especially when you think you need them ALL!!

I'm going to show you that if you have a frame you can turn it into a border and a corner die as well.

To make corners your first step is to cut out a frame.

Next take a square punch (or some cutting tool)and cut it out as shown in the photo.

To make another style corner cut another frame and then trim out the inside as shown.

Trim out the corners with scissors or a knife. You can also use the sides to make a border. Trim the sides of the frame, line them up, and glue them together. I've used the border on the inside of my card.

I hope this inspires you to try and see your dies or other tools in a new light.

#20 - Sympathy Cards

This week at Sugar Creek Hollow we are challenging you to make vintage, shabby chic or primitive SYMPATHY cards.

These are not the most fun to make because of the occasion but they can be the easiest, especially if you think elegant and fairly clean.

One important note - we love seeing all of your wonderful work and we will make every effort to come to visit you and comment but we are a vintage, shabby chic and primitive challenge blog so if your card doesn't fit in one of those styles, you are not eligible to win any of the prizes. Please make sure your entry fits within both the style and the challenge theme.

We have a returning sponsor this week, Robyn's Fetish, who will be providing a prize to one random winner of 5 images from the Robyn's Fetish store. The random winner will also receive a winner's badge from Sugar Creek Hollow.

The Design Team will choose their Top Pick and the creator will receive a winner's badge and will be in the running for a monthly Guest Designer spot.

Our designers have created some lovely inspiration for you using images from our sponsor.

# 19 - Summer Days

Welcome to Sugar Creek Hollow and another fun challenge called SUMMER DAYS.  We want you to think about what summer means to you and then create a vintage, shabby chic or primitive card to tell us what that is.

If you are in a good portion of the United States and north into Canada you are thinking about oppressive heat so how do you translate that into a vintage card - hmmmm?

We will be choosing one random winner who will receive a digi of our choice along with a winner's badge to display. The Design Team will choose their Top Pick and that creator will receive a winner's badge but will also be in the running for a monthly Guest Designer spot.

Summer means something different to each of our designers and they have made some wonderful inspiration for you.
